As the saying goes, it takes a village. The Ohio Girls Golf Foundation is a grassroots organization that relies on the generosity of our golf community partners, as well as, individual and corporate donors to continue our mission of encouraging, sponsoring, and supporting the game of golf for girls and all the opportunities it provides.
Over the past decades, the Ohio Girls Golf Foundation has awarded more than $130,000 in college scholarships to hundreds of girls. In 1996, the OGGF awarded its first $1,000 scholarship and the program grew from there, with one girl winning the first year, then three girls the next year, seven the following year and growing to eight or more girls nearly every year throughout the 2000s . This year we have received received the most applications in our history. We need your help to increase the number of scholarships that we can award each year to these very worthy candidates.
In addition to awarding scholarships, we also host instructional Golf Clinics each spring for girls age 8-18, geared to inform, educate and expand knowledge of all aspects of golf. This year we were able to expand our clinic program to include Winter Clinics at four indoor golf facilities.
The girls who participate in the clinics have the opportunity to participate in the OGGF Ongoing Lesson Program to continue improving their game via private lessons with PGA Professionals, partially funded by the Foundation.
The OGGF hosts a High School Showcase featuring LPGA Tour Professional Barb Mucha every summer. This year we are hosting our twenty-second event which includes a golf clinic and a fun competition for the girls before the high school season begins.
New this year, the OGGF partnered with the Northern Ohio PGA Section Foundation to host “Girls Golf Night” to educate the participants on different aspects of the golf industry. We were joined by 13 female golf industry professionals from PGA Head Golf Professionals to Sales Representatives.
